Gravel Pump style Tin Mining

Bird watching is a healthy and academic outdoor sport. To the experienced, it is like "a piece of cake" but to beginners it is daunting with the quandary of "where to find Birds?" A Bird Race is the right platform for the experts to show their flare and the newbie's to ride piggy-back in exploring spots where the experts tread! Bird Race is an event when participants join the competition in teams, usually group of 3 persons, to watch and count the numbers of birds seen within a specified confine and within a stipulated period. The rules are strict but it is a fun event with the aim of stimulating interest in bird watching. For new comers and curious enthusiast, it is chance to learn about the nature existing in the region, the amount of bird life and thus gaining support for the conservation of nature and environment

Most notable is the Frasers Hill Bird Race held annually around June. Fuelled by the fact that Fraser's Hill is often been referred to as a first class bird watching destination in this region, since this highland paradise is home to more than 250 species of wild birds. From 2 pm on Saturday to Noon on Sunday [22 hours], a 3-birders team should be able to easily spot 65 birds species.

The competition will be divided into three distinctive categories -the advanced category for the serious and experienced bird watchers who habitually return to Fraser's Hill at the slightest opportunity to do trial field runs, the novice category for those who just take up bird watching out of curiosity or treat bird watching as an academic hobby and the local category for the local residents who know the whereabouts of the birds in Fraser's Hill and see the birds everyday. There are rules and check points to supervise the progress of the race and at the end of race results submitted. Then the results arrived at after scrutiny by the panel of adjudicators

In preparing this page, I have searched the net for more information. The scarcity of information indicates this events is hardly practiced around the world Sadly, same trend as the hobby of bird watching, its popularity suffers a diminishing numbers of followers. The Frasers Hills International Bird Race which continued since its inception in 1989 still stand out prominently
