Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen Temple

Jenjarom

Built in 1994, the FGS Dong Zen Temple occupies an area of 16 acres. Its vast and peaceful compound comprises a main shrine that houses a giant Buddha statue, Waterdrop Teahouse, Lumbini Garden, Sutra calligraphy hall, the Dong Zen Institute of Buddhist Studies, Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery, exhibition halls containing artifacts and relics, audiovisual rooms, meditation and dining halls and a vegetarian restaurant.

The temple also organizes short monastic retreats, meditation camps, prayer services and regular Dharma talks.

FGS Dong Zen Temple is a large Buddhist monastic order and new movement based in Taiwan; one of the country’s four major Buddhist institutions. Founded in 1967 by Hsing Yun, it promotes Humanistic Buddhism and a modern approach to religion. The branch in Jenjarom, for example, has many youth-centric activities such as Sunday dharma classes and charity events in order to attract more young devotees. In Taiwan, they have over 300 branches all over the country, as well as centres around the world.

; There is much confusion about a new name about a nearby town ship. Teluk Penglima Garang. This is not a township but new industrial area with more modern looking facilities. It is along the same Highway 5 passing through Jenjarom.

From there, branch off to a new coastal road that by passes Banting town. First along this road would be Carey island and then to places beyond Banting. Meant to divert and reduce traffic on the original Highway.6

Highlights for FGS Temple would be the Annual Lunar New Year Floral Fest. Where the garden in the temple's compound would be garneted for the occasion. It would be nightly affairs

For the rest of the days during the year, this place would be strictly for devotees to be going through their rituals. Visitors are of course welcome to visit the place as we had. The scene then are straight faced without any fanfair
