Ulu Yam Baharu

In the midst and also hidden within a Malay Kampong in Ulu Yam, there is a beautiful Orchid farm.

 Yes and should not be  really interpreted that way.  In fact, this place World Of Phalaenopisis is not a farm. It activities is more towards that of a factory and in the same premises they attached a beautiful show room This company specialized in plant's tissue culture. In its compound they have many state of the art nurseries to propagate plants mainly exotic orchid plants and rare ornamental garden green. The company uses extensively Sphagnum Ferns for potting. They are retailing tiny baby plants at very affordable prices.

That's the gist, Let's get on with the more pleasant part how they have this beautiful showroom attracting visitors.

Calathea Wavestar - Calatheas owe their name to the Greek word for basket. The flowers are in a sort of basket. The Calathea is family of the Marantaceae. The plant has its origins in tropical regions of South America. The Wavestar is found in Brazil as undergrowth.

Microsorium punctatum "Grandiceps" - very rare. An easy growing fern that enjoys fairly neutral, moist soil and not too much shade. The leathery fronds droop and end in cresting branches.

From the many vast over the years I could see that management of this establishment shifting its goal post. From the entrance, the person on duty would give out visitors past in accordance to the intention of your visit. Then the Cafe was gradually expanded and upgraded to very good standards. May not be a profitable profit centre but definitely a crowd puller. making the all visitors, a memorable one.

Example of comments

Place has a nice calming ambience. Meant for people to chillax and soak up nature.
Cafe there provides reasonable food.
There are two air conditioned showrooms which show cases their prettiest blooms. No pictures allowed. During this Covid restriction period, those above 70 and below 12 are not allowed in. Nevertheless, visitors can slowly browse the outdoor area and have a cuppa at the cafe !
