Lighting Up Kek Loke Si   -  Rabbit year 2023

The Covid pandemic changed many things and lifestyles in our society. Most notable of all -  among the happenings  in the 3 years, was the curb to free movements

This year, 2023 we were at the transition stage of the full relaxation. The touristy  Kek Loke Si temple too should rejoice with such happenings and the anticipation of the returning crowd. Yes they did! They had put in special effort to better their previous years performance. So 2023 eh? I went through the settings and moods of the complex. No doubt it has the very familiar scenes as nothing has changed and overall, pictures taken appear as they always were asmy old picture would shown. There were noticeable improvement in jubilance - ecstatically or brightness. After searching myself, perhaps it was the lightings and brightened compound of the Quan Yin area. I am seeing it for the first time. Or the new walkway hike to the temple which is entirely new to me?

I am sure many others may not feel the same as I do, so enjoy seeing the lighted pictures of kek Loke Si 2023

# Pix 1 - The new entrance

Entrance 1 - Ground level. This is suppose to replace the granite walkway which was covered. The car park is also beside the entrance

# Pix 2 - Lower entrance 1

The foyer

# Pix 3- Moving up to intermediate Car Park 2

Nice stairway - what happens when it rains?

# Pix 4  - Compound of intermediate Car Park

Up till now the amount of lightings seen so far had mesmerizing us

# Pix 5 - Move height to gain

On the way to top Car Park. This time no steps just a gentle slope

# Pix 6 - The intermediate Car Park

This is the old car Park opened many years ago and now becomes one of the 3 car parks,. Now this is an entirely new parking lot

# Pix 7 - View around this second Car park

The immense amount of lightings had brighten up the whole area, leave alone its "fairyland" effects

# Pix 8 - Panoramic sweep of the Car Park area

Still the same feeling awesome!

# Pix 9 - One more flight of stairs

This one a bit longer in distance and steep with steps

# Pix 10 - Road to the Dam

Looking out from the Car park could see passing traffic which by pass this parking and heading straight for the uppermost lot

# Pix 11 - At last, Third and upper most Car Park

This is the old car Park ad also the last for visitors to the temple.

# Pix 12 - By-passing Prayer Hall No.2

Most people using this parking lot would not know of the Lower Prayer halls but walk straight up to the area of the inner court yard or garden

# Pix 13 - Overlooking the inner Court Yard

The steps here actually led straight to the Pagoda by passing all the Prayers Halls. That route is now blocked for years now and visitors would descend from that walkway back to joining the normal route that takes visitors through the complex

# Pix 14 - Walkway and foreground to Pagoda

Here is an example where the extreme brightness and seas of colour made is challenging for photographer to making a decent picture

# Pix 15 - Yes That's the steps and walk way

Sorry lah! This Path is closed

# Pix 16 - Looking downwards to Prayer Hal No.2

Well! its lights and colours

# Pix 17 - Covered walkway to proceed to Prayer Hall No.3

I would consider this not over congested but the lighting layout tastefully done

# Pix 18 - Crowd at the inner court yard

Depending on personal choices, Visitors were at a lost as to what and where to click! Just too many choices

# Pix 19 - Top of walkway

Passing through the Moongate would be a level towards Prayer Hall. No.3 But before that there would be a new and another indoor Garden

# Pix 20 -  After the "Moongate"

One level or  a few steps lower than the Prayer Halls No. 3 garden with 1000 Buddha's

# Pix 24 - Here at the perimeter walls

Rows of Buddha in a surrounding walls fashion

# Pix 25 - Bird's eye view of garden

In the center of this indoor garden there is also elevated pavilion. Once up there you can get this panoramic shot on some part of the garden and the front yard of the Pagoda in the same level

# Pix 26 - Ground Level -Indoor Garden

Ignoring the height gain at the pavilion and ground level, you can get another varied view and effects of the lightings. Imagine I got crazy clicking away, luckily it is digital without concern for number of shots

# Pix 27 - Walking into Prayer Hall No.3 and by passing

At the side of the Prayer Hall there was this souvenir shop section

# Pix 28 - Leaving Prayer Hall No.3

Out of Prayer Hall No.3 and to the adjacent steps to proceed to Prayer Hall No.4,  a small gate and a Toll booth. Rgt 2 pax needed to enter this new compound.

# Pix 29 - Prayer No.4

Well lighted under normal condition

# Pix 30- Out in the front lawn

In front and a few steps up and another few steps - latterns at the front compound of the Pagoda

# Pix 31 -  Compound of the Pagoda

Yes so much lightings

# Pix 32 - The Giant Bell

Need pushing to strike at the Bell

# Pix 33 - View from the Pagoda's compound

Looking back at where we were - the pavilion in blue roof at the 1000 Buddha garden

# Pix 34 - View of Air Itam at night

Quite  a vantage point - could over see the lower temple complex of Prayers Halls 1&2 plus looking beyond in the horizon - Air Itam

# Pix 35 - Looking Back - Passage and Garden Prayer Hall No.4

Well lit and without the many latterns

# Pix 36 - Leavng the Old Temple complex

Completed the the tour of the Kek Loke Si temple Complex This was the way to the rail to proceed the compound of the Kwan Qin Statute

# Pix 37 - Before reaching the station -another souvenir shop

Imperative and the route was designed to pass through the shop

# Pix 38 - Crowd awaiting for train

Chinese New Year lightings and the exceptionally large crowd

# Pix 39 - Compound - Kwan Yin

The large widespread compound welcoming visitors

# Pix 40 - Kwan Yin within a sea of lights

Yes back into and for another sea of lights  situation. Here I did not feel the congestion as I had felt while in the old temple complex

# Pix 41 - Column of Thousands Buddha

The statue of Buddha here I would say - minute in size

# Pix 42 - Steps up to another landing

Some sort of floor for ceremony

# Pix 43 - Another wide landing or platform

Also very lighted

# Pix 44 - A place to get close to Kwan Yin

The statue looking down on its visitors

# Pix 45 - Visitors milling within the Pavilion

Just look at the columns that provided support for the pavilion and the crowd

# Pix 46 - One feature - depositing coins on a rounded  platform

Here this picture shows a lady devotee doing just that

# Pix 47 - Kwan Yin Figurines

Life size statues lined the perimetr walls

# Pix 57 - Another tower of Buddha

This tower was indoor as compared to the one shown earlier as outdoor

# Pix 49 - Far away shot of the figurines

Would have taken some time to count how many there were

# Pix 50 - Impressive place so more pictures

Every feature here was impressive, took lots of shots for the album

# Pix 51 - At the edge of perimeter - overlooking Kek Loke Si Complex

There iwas another afir size statue within the compound but outside the canopy

# Pix 52 - Bird's eye view - Seas of Lights

Rows and rows of Latterns as far as the eyes can see

# Pix 53 - Change of mood

Into the garden - these were the same style of electronic lightings as used in Foo Guang Shan in Jenjarom

# Pix 54 - No Chinese Lantern in this garden

Not so Gaudy but also not so grand as the myriads of lanterns

# Pix 55 - From this electronic Garden looking out

The classic style of lightings overwhelmed the scene

# Pix 56 - Looking back into the Kwan Yin

In one scene Modern and classic style lightings could be seen

# Pix 57 - Last Night view of Valley

To the right of the temple into the Valley  -Farlim skyline

# Pix 58 - Night View of Air Itam

To the left of temple - the old Air Itam Village

Overall I am very impressed with the efforts put in by myself in compiling this page. Co-incidentally I have just completed what I always wanted to do - Make a story on Kek Loke Si and which I have finished doing.  Straightaway I am putting up this additional page on 2023 lightings.

Anyway, it may surprised you that I am still in the process of filling up more text and pictures on the first page - Kek Loke Si temple. It is such a long story, as more and more pictures surfaced, they would be added
