Owls
Owls are fascinating nocturnal birds of prey known for their silent flight, keen hunting skills, and distinctive calls. These mysterious creatures are found in nearly every corner of the world, from dense forests to open deserts. With their large, forward-facing eyes, sharp talons, and exceptional hearing, owls are perfectly adapted to life in the dark. Often associated with wisdom in folklore and mythology, owls play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance by controlling rodent populations. Whether it’s the haunting hoot of a Great Horned Owl or the ghostly appearance of a Barn Owl, these enigmatic birds continue to captivate human imagination. While owls are mainly active at night some species may be spotted during daylight hours. Certain owls, like the *Burrowing Owl* and the *Short-eared Owl, are more **crepuscular* meaning that they are active in the dawn hours well sometimes but rarely diurnal - active in daylight time.. Owls which are nocturnal may occasionally perch in daylight, sort of hang-over from their nocturnal routine. When their roasting spots were discovered they will actually find another well shaded spot or come out in the open. Anothere scenario would be when they feeding the young, or facing food shortages. However, daytime sightings are less common, as most owls avoid bright sunlight to evade predators like hawks and crows. Thats the reason Owl unlike other birds are not encountered easily and therefore bird watcher have difficulties in making an identification when they stumbled upon one accidentally As the name denotes, this is a group of nocturnal birds and then, they are Mainly birds from the wooded areas That makes it more difficult to seek them out as they deliberately have concealed themselves among heavy foliages. Not until or unless, they comes out to the forest edge area occasionally Luckily many experiences bird watcher had caught up with most of the Owls. So be patients you will get to see them one day
