Malaysian Birds Hairy-backed Bulbul Diagnostic markings :- 16.5 cm. Here same as the Grey-bellied this small Bulbul also appear much larger than the stated measurement. cannot explain how I got the impression. [1] Broad yellowish ring around the eyes. Breast dirty green and rest under part with tail - yellow. Wings light brown. So-named -suppose to have fine long plums behind head but hardly seen. Though many subscribers on the internet did write about the bird foraging alone, my experience is that once one bird is sighted, quite often a few other birds in the vicinity. This species is not in the habit of grouping together. It has a habit of staying still in one perch for a long time like the Broadbills. Almost the same size but with very different colors. Most meeting with this species is accidental, meaning that we cannot seek the bird out but we could wait for them in places where the birds have being seen appearing. Hairy-backed Bulbul picture # 1

Where to find them :- Very commonly seen in Merapoh along the road. Also along the road in Kuala Ganda on the way to Rengit. The place is forested and seldom disturbed. It is a shy bird but prefers forest. Back in the urban areas, the bird do come out in Ampang Recreation Park, Perdik and Congkak Forest Parks.
