Malaysian Birds - White-crested Laughingthrush

The White-crested Laughingthrush is a bird native to the foothills of the Himalayas, which includes countries like Bhutan and Nepal. Then it is also found in countries along a narrow belt from the Himalayas to southern China.

This bird and the calls it makes, made it attractive to be kept popular as caged bird. I read that in the 70s this was a popular bird in the pet shop in Malaysia and some birds could have escaped to start a feral population. This is not so true as I have hardly seen this bird in the last 20 years other than the few pictures I had taken once.Well, if it has to be around then, this is a bird of the hills going up to sub-montane level.
