Sparrows

The Eurasian Tree Sparrow known locally as *"Burung Pipit Rumah"* or *"Burung Ciak", is a small, adaptable bird commonly found across Malaysia. Unlike its close relative, the House Sparrow, which is less common in the region, the Eurasian Tree Sparrow thrives in both urban and rural environments, making it one of Malaysia's most familiar bird species.

There are only 3 species of Sparrows that one could encounter, the extremely common Eurasian Tree Sparoows and then the other two hardly seen House Sparrow and Plain-backed Sparrow.

*Where to Spot*: Visit wet markets, rice fields, or any open feeding areas—they’re almost guaranteed to be around!
- *Best Time*: Active throughout the day, especially in early mornings and late afternoons.
- *Behavior to Observe*: Watch their social interactions, as they often squabble over food in noisy groups.
The Eurasian Tree Sparrow may not be as colorful as Malaysia’s exotic birds, but its adaptability and lively presence make it an integral part of the country’s urban wildlife. Whether flitting around a mamak stall or chirping from a roadside tree, this little sparrow is a charming reminder of nature’s resilience in human-dominated landscapes.
