My journey with Monstera Epipremnoidesa

This is another page on Monstera and also another Monsters plant. In the past I only assume that there is only one species with this type of leaves fernatsttion.

The Monstera featured on this page comes with oval shaped leaves with unbroken edges and having plenty of holes in the leaves. There are over 40 types of Monstera and among these lots only 15 species are popularly grown in domestic garden  Again from this number when I an preparing this page I found that there were 3 species having lots of look alike features. At the start of preparing this page, I've got to make double sure of the points I am putting down in writing. So what follow below are actually notes from the homework that I have done. I find it a waste to discard them and left it on his page for my future reference.

Slowly I got them sorted out and came to the conclusion of the species I am nurturing. But first this page starts with showing pictures and notes of the 2 more common species, and whch is casting doubts in my ID process

1. Monstera adansonii

The heart-shaped leaves of this Monstera develop holes as the plant matures because of fenestration. The feature that sets it apart is the holes that do not run to the foliage’s edge like Monstera deliciosa. It makes a perfect fit for hanging baskets due to the trailing nature.

2. Monstera Epipremnoides / Esqueleto

Monstera esqueleto is very similar to adansonii, but there are some telltale differences. The foliage of esqueleto is a little large compared to adansonii and has a lighter tone of green. The hole incision is also larger in the case of Monstera esqueleto, which has a different appeal.

The species commonly offered in the nursery is the Monstera Adsonnii. There I am clinging on to the rarely encountered Monsters Epipremnoides which gives me added incentives to work on this plant and this page

4. Monstera esqueleto

There are 2 diferent plants from this species. Both are more or less identical and actually could be considered as a the same type of plants. The species found in the wild is named as Monstera Epipremnoides while those farmed for sales in the nursery is named Monstera esqueleto
