Historical flash back

The  MG "B" GT

MGB GT - The car. Low and retaining most of the looks of the classic MGB. It has a fixed top and with a solid enclosed passenger space. The car was appropriate for the fitment of an on board air- conditioning unit. So with that sort of mood, I wanted this model in my collection! In no time from the classified ad column, I found one. A lady had just refurbished her unit. After a while, she found that the car was not how she would liked it to be. I took over from her car @ Rgt 20K. Wow!  respectable price too for both of us.
Together with the historical data of the car, it was transferred to me

I could see from her record that car was already one time repainted in Maroon when she bought it.

Then she had it done in Midnight Blue

In a nutshell, I'd got home a completely refurbished dark blue MGB GT And here in the garden together with the Sunbeam Alpine.

For me, I wanted all my sports cars in Post Office Red. One more round of repainting.

My fancy then, was also my dogs. At that time my first Dalmatian Joey met an accident and now with the replacement Benson.

That was me! Very pleased to have this picture, reminding me what beautiful car I have got at one time. What were you doing when you were 50 years old?

One for the album - the MGB GT and the frontage of the house.

Yes a date - 1994, that was the time when Benson our Dalmatian dog was growing up. We still have lots of big trees along the road that we lived.

When the car was ready. I thought that it must be more comfortable with the air-con unit. Plus the hard top would helped me in avoiding all the elements of weather.  I took the car for a long haul to Penang. Sorry, no repeating of pictures from Penang scene. Stopped by Kuala Kurau and Kuala Gula.

A picture of the Kuala Kurau town centre after the river crossing terminal.

This was the last river crossing for cars in the country. I knew that this feature would be history soon. So I took the car there just to have the photos taken to mark the event. We had this mode once upon a time, and I used this feature in modern age,

This scene - crossed over from Kuala Gula to Kuala Kurau township.

At last, it was time for me to say "Goodbye" to my beloved Model of MGB GT, I took it around nearby parks that had  fresh natural background for my collection of pictures.

Done over a period of times, mainly on my own.  The car was taken to the hill slopes of Bukit Gasing for a more dramatic shot

This one was taken in Bukit Kiara. That was the time we did our daily walk around the tracks in the hills. Cars were allowed into the area. No supervision introduced yet. Here my willing model Henry showing the elegance of this model.

Yes, this hardtop model, in it, the passenger compartment was a more tolerable environment compared with the open top. But the cruising speed at which the car could go comfortably was the same - about 70 mph.
Despite of the better settings within the MGB GT and could drive with less strain, I hardly took the car out for long drive. Actually when it comes to driving cars, we are spoilt, having got use to the modern standard vehicles. This generation of British sports cars was not a nice vehicle to drive. I convinced myself that it was like flying a Spitfire Fire jet of WW II. All the controls rudimentary, took a lot of tough and rugged handling. It got the job done.

At the time, even the contemporary MG1100, available then as a saloon was a much quieter and smoother car. They were even more responsive vehicles. But I simply I love the looks of the MGB GT. But really thinking of the novelty of the open top that motivated me to take it out, again and again.
