Taman Negara! Where is this place? heard it is in Pahang but where about? Taman Negara or Malaysian National Park covers an area of 4,342 Square Kilometres. The Sultans of three states Pahang, Trenggannu and Kelantan set aside the land to jointly started this Park. There may be a few entrances into the park, but these are small entrances with little facilities other than being a Gateway. The one and only entrance is at Kuala Tahan. A point deep inside the forest. Long ago the access point is through a town in Pahang called Jerantut! #1 Starting point Jerantut Town
#2 Kuala tembiling Ferry Terminal Pass the town centre and proceed about 10 kilometres to the river bank. There at a point on Kuala Tembeling, the official and main jetty, with ferry leaving for Taman Negara. Here a picture of the jetty at Kuala Tembeling.
The journey upstream to the destination is called Kuala Tahan, a distance of over 60 kilometres again the flowing water and the journey took over 3 hours. It was a fantastic boat ride in the past with a 3 hours journey through pristine tropical forest. Now no more! The forest cleared, the boat struggling its way upstream under the hot sun and the banks with monotonous scene of palm Oil plantations, #3 That time was the Older W124
