A Cursory updates of our Birding Sites
it is close to a
year now, that we have not being out. Lost touch with those knowing
the contemporaries hotspots, places that the photographers who are frequenting
in the fields We need to go out but with no leads. Where to now? Part 1 - Pulau Indah Open Country Our last outing for birds was to Jugra on 7th January, 2021.
This day, first stop
- Pulau Indah. upon arrival, the place seemed to be getting quite
industrialized with
traffic seen on the once deserted sandy dirt track. More vegetation gone! Ummp -
Let's see what we can land ourselves? Surprise! a sizable chunk of open country land cordoned off with construction work in progress The once seen in abundant Pipits were nowhere to be spotted, so were the Red-wattled. Further on, towards the end of the trail, we at last caught sight of the other regulars - Adjutant, Bee eaters and Lapwing. The place can now be rated as disturbed Open Country. Part 2 - Failed Attempt in Pantai Kenangan Picture No. 8 - We brought along our breakfast
Following the new Expressway we reached Jugra. Oh no! the bridge at the
sluice gate collapsed. No point forcing our way through the
collapsed floor. Then we spent some time looking for an alternative by pass without
success. Then we back tracked and headed north to Jeram. Poor Chuan
having an early brunch at the roadside restaurant
Part 3 - Lunchtime @Ah Tee Kedai Kopi Sin Lok At Ah Tee place - the crowd was threatening thick. But we took the risk, Sat down had a good lunch Picture No. 9 - The Queue for Take away Stephen waiting patiently for his makan

Part 4 - The Mudflats of Pantai Remis After lunch, we headed for Pantai Remis. At 1.30pm in the heat of the afternoon, it was well past the time for the tide to recede. Tide reached its lowest level. The mudflats was close to a kilometer out to sea. Not all was lost. The wandering waders came and gone. leaving a couple of local stranglers Picture No. 12 - The lone Sandpiper Hello! We satisfied ourselves with those few familiar destinations that we missed going for so long. Now that we came and saw. satisfied with the below average results. Good assurances that we had not missed that much after all
