Ko Muk and Tham Morakot is an interesting island for tourists who enjoy the seas. It is a big island with most of which of land areas are cliffs, especially its west side. This west side side faces the open seas. The sheltered eastern side of the island facing the mainland has a fishing village. The high cliffs are habitats for a large number of swallows. Right beneath these cliff conceal the beautiful Tham Morakot.

The cave entrances which can see visible from both ends during low tide. Though the entrances may have low ceiling  but sometimes could accommodate a small boat in passing through. This cave about 80 meters long.

As with all caves having exit, the inside is being refresh with never ending stream of drafts. The inner exit opens up to an enclosed cove with spectacular scenery. White sands and high cliffs all round - dotted with green trees on its slopes. Hopefully the sky is blue to complete the whole picture

As soon as you see the lights at the end of the tunnel, you understand that this swim through the dark cave was worth it. The beauty is almost impoosible to express in words abd by the way also difficult to capture on pictures You are completely surrounded by high overgrown rock walls There wre even trees and scrubs with a stetch of beach which makes you feel like you are in a mini  jungle.

The myths goes that this hidden lagoon was once used by pirates to hide their loots. Anyway for practical reasons, for day trippers, the best time to visit the lagoon is daily between the time of 10 am to 2 pm. This is the window when the sun rays gives the largest impact to bring out the best effects of the emerald colours in the water,

The shallow water in the lagoon is crystal clear and has a beautiful bluish green hue. It is the incoming sunlight that get reflected from the walls of the cliff to create this visual effects. hence this place gets its name

The Fishes

This is a "dreams come true" trip for me. Pity, I could not participate in the swimming through. I did put on my life jacket and jumped into the water. Inexperienced - the swell and the struggles I had to make would exhaust me very quickly. Even though I may not get drown. Travelling far from home certain risk are not worth the excitement. I forgo this adventure of a lifetime.
