A  Day's trip to TITI

This day I was going out with a bunch of Rookies who hardly took the trouble to explore their neighbourhood

Destination Titi! a small new village tugged away in the valley at the border of Negri Sembilan and Selangor State. This place is home to farmers who are mainly from the Hakka dialect. Attraction would be their simple ways of village life and Hakka dumplings So it was s 70 Kilometres drive. To weave through the early morning traffic, we choose the lesser used road Highway drive. Straight through to Seminyeh. Then follow the whole length of Sungei Lalang Road to Sungei Lui. From there up to the hilly road of Genting Paras to cross the border at its highest point. A good change from the urban city drive that they were so accustomed with.

My fellow travellers were warn that once they reached the village, not to expect anything rare but quietness and tranquillity. We finally arrived in Titi. Internet has made this settlement very famous. Attracting huge crowd on weekends. And what do you find here? Nothing except the newly sprung up restaurants to amuse inbound visitors. Anyway just enjoy the few scenes we had collectively captured to describe our trip.

For starter - here are some names as seen on road sign. Does any name ring a bell?

First, the most important picture - the group in Titi town. Looks like a shot taken from the movie "For A few Dollars More"

No! Titi is not a "cowboy" town i.e. with only one street. Titi has 2 roads in town. Both running parallel to one another.

Here is a picture of the iconic "kueh" stall in Titi

Yes, Hakka Kueh! - Particular the black coloured ones, made with dye from a leaf.

See our heros enjoying the Hakka "kuey".

Michael stayed with the more sanely Curry Mee

They came with different colours, fillings and taste.

The happy Yee couple

The Main Street in Titi

Ah Ha! This was the community centre for Senior citizens. Uncle George & myself patronised them once to sing Karaoke. They had assembled the largest collection of unwanted Laser Disc for Karaoke tracks.

Historically, Titi was well known for its growing of quality Pineapples. Couldn't ascertain which breed. Could be that of Kuching. Here I managed a couple of pictures taken in 2019 capturing that ambience

One more picture. Shops in town would act as collection centres for retail and as well as wholesales.  But on this trip, the slopes of the low hills no longer have signs of Pineapples being planted. Furthermore none of the shops had pineapples. In fact most of them , including those handing fruits were closed. Could it be that the pineapples were outclassed by the newly popularised MD2 and Jenky fruits?

Then, the installation of New Era. A gaudy temple was erected at the edge of town.

There you are the Latest attraction in Titi! Nothing to do with the unique tradition found in Titi Nor was it a historical landmark of the place. It is a man made structure to satisfy the thirst of day trippers hungry for a memento picture.

Well, a few more

Most visitors not going for the photo session would look left and then right. Pondering what is this place?.

Oh yes! we found a reason. By touching the body of the statue would bring good luck!

Finally some panoramic view since we were in high grounds

The small hill lock behind the temple.

After completing the tour of Titi New Village we made a brief stop over at the Jeram Toi Waterfall picnic spot. The pictures we had collected would be posted in another page under my "Waterfalls" section.

From theJelebu-Seremban Highway - next stop the famous Seremban Beef Noodle. Below, a picture of the shop's frontage

That's my so-called "Clasmmate" Chong. Owner and operator of the Beef Noodle shop in the Seremban Main Market

Long lost friend having a picture together for updates

Here a picture of te group at the Seremban Pasar Besar.

Late 2019, the whole Pasar Besar were burnt. Every stalls involved but mercurially only one shop was unaffected A picture of the event as published in the press and which I borrowed

Hope you did enjoy following the story of our down south trip.
