Malaysian Birds - Pink-necked Pigeon We have seen Pigeons in town or in the Park. Big flocks of domesticated Pigeons, that are mingling with passers-by. They are in fact, feral Rock Pigeon, at least most of them in dark grey feathers are. Then there are some white and others with brownish patches. The real wild Rock Pigeons are still around in Malaysia. They are found at the forest edge and at rocky areas by the seasides. Now, we do have more wild Pigeons other than the the Rock Pigeon. The biggest group of wild Pigeons are the Green Pigeons.. Among them, one species, the Pink-necked Green Pigeon do stray away from the forest edge, to come to our garden. Remember, I talked about the jungle Matoa Tree that was in front of my house and the huge clump of Macarthur Palms in my neighbor's garden. Yes, one providing roosting spot and another supplying food. In this page are images I collected of this jungle Green Pigeon that had come to my house over the years. They, these Green Pigeons, still continue to come for their food. Now without that big shady Matoa tree, the Green Pigeon no longer resting nearby or even stop to show their faces. Now that shows how much differences the Matoa trees had made. #1 pix - a pair perched on the wire in front of my house Left -male and right female.

I suppose, the birds knows what they wanted, coming in for the food. After having their belly full, they have much better places to roost undisturbed or continue doing the routines. Whereas for me, just pondering why aren't they spending more time with me? Huh! Why should they?
