Rambutan Prawns in Banting

Banting is a fair size town near but not at the coast of Selangor. This is not a special town that has something to shout about. In fact it was even hailed as a "Rest Town" or Bandar Persinggahan along the Busy Highway 5, southern coastal road. Perhaps another reason that Banting has some significant  was because of Jugra. A coastal town which was a Royal town. There are historical relics, a hill with Lighthouse, an antique Jail from by gone days. Lastly home the very famous Beggars Chicken.

So Banting was never famous for food! But not until, some where in the year 2005, the fame of one Chinese restaurant shot into the international headlines. Known for its designer's preparation, took the Hong Kong media by storm.

Kiasu me, don't want to miss out also joined the queue then. Sadly, the archives were among those lost. No problem - only recently, my grand chldren has come of age to travel, I took them down memory lane to all the old haunts where I once roamed. Lucky for me or them too, it was also a more or less a "swan song" visit.

Pix No 1 The restaurant still on-going open for bussiness.

Perhaps I had to the place too many times, the food offered appeared mundane as not so special anymore

Pix No.2 De-boned chicken with fish meat fillings

Pix no, 3 Their style of offering Omelette wit Oysters "Hoe Chien"

Pix no,4 Nothing so nostalgic to the younger set. Life as usual

Pix no,5 the star of their offering "Rambutan Prawn"

I didn't have the pictures. Other exclusive were stirred fried vegetable of a fern creepers plant harvested locally. An unique style of veggie seafood soup. Last, noodles made with Tapioca flour.

After the meal, one picture outside the shop for remembrance

As to why I mentioned "Swan Song", in preparing this page. I searched Google for more material. The name of this shop did not come up wel. Then in going deeper for the menu for food. It was back to the mundane recommendations that were "run of the mills" stuff.

I felt funny in the last two visit, one well before CMCO. Business was slow and we were the only table enjoying their "special" preparations. This last visit was no different. We were the only group having lunch. Later joined by a couple of locals having fried rice.

Pitiful sight and sorrowful memories when somewhere down the road another shop in Banting making new headlines. Have you all heard the new Today's New kid on the Block joint offering lunch top up with plenty of Toddy? All my pictures vanished, waiting for the next trip to replenish.
