The Opening ceremony was held on Saturday 11th June 2005. Presided by YB Dato Maznah bt Mazlan, Chairperson Minister of the Domestic Affair Culture, Arts, Tourism & Women Affairs for the State of Pahang. This year a total of 38 teams with the total number of 114 participants. Their breakdown are Domestic 24 Teams, International 4 teams and Birds Enthusiast another 10 teams. These Teams were then categorised 16 Teams for the Novice section and the rest 22 Teams in the Advance Category. The event organiser had planned for a grand occasion as the Sultanah would be present to give away the prizes. There was a massive cultural fanfare to welcome the VIP. I was attracted by the Gala preparation and had these pictures
For me, I am not sure whether this was regular features for the Fraser's Hill Bird race. Definitely a good mixture of culture inside a Nature's Event.

There were of course dignitaries present to accompany the VIP and graced the ceremony. While the planning and the ceremony was a grand affair. Could see somehow the participation was only half the number of the 2004 events. Beside the Bird Race which was the theme and also main event, there were a host of other activities put in place to bring publicity and crowd to this place for the Weekend. For example:- there was a Golf Competition, Treasure Hunt Contest, Children Colouring Contest, Exhibition and Sales & Promotion of Nature related subjects.
The closing ceremony was held at 2pm on the 12th June 2005, Sunday. The prizes were given away by KDYMM Sultanah Hajiah Kalsom. Can't remember this presentation recipient , was definitely not the winner for this year's Bird race
Winners in the Advance Category was Team Prinias from Malaysia with Team members Wong Soon Ying, Ng Chee Chong & Wong Wing Sun.
Well, I know the more senior Birder would know who this gentleman is! Very low key, not a single photo of him on the internet Those in the row in front were my buddies.
The Results Novice category ;- 1st Chip Chop Tin - 52 species. 2nd Triple Drogon - 48 species and 3rd The Certified -44 species Advance:- Marbles Wren - 94 species. 2nd Iora -84 species and 3rd Sparrows - 84 species. Here is a picture of participants that we met up with at the Telecom Loop.
