Historical flash back

My collection of Sports Cars

I was riding on the tide of the "Baby Boomers" at a time when well trained motor vehicles mechanics could repair and innovate modifications By the 1980s, these group of people were very experienced. I was among them and we enjoyed recreating when the need arose. So for the old sports cars which by then, would be passing 20 years old. The car aging and many parts were giving way, it was getting harder to get the cars into top shape. Replacement alternatives put into these vehicles were seen as a joy. So I know the way to keep these cars going and also the contacts when I needed help.

Cannot blame me for being too ambitious then. So I had 4 of them all at the same time. Unfortunately, such good vibes didn't last long. By the 1990 the earliest batch of good mechanics were passing their 60 years barrier and my contemporaries were looking forward to retirement. Having said that it was a glorious era, but when doing a head count, there were only a handful who are really dedicated to their skills.

So I had my cars, I lined them in front of my house to enhance my joy of seeing them.

Top;- 2 MGBs lined up and below the open top MGB with the Spitfire

Next picture - I had the 3 open toppers in a row.

Gorgeous looking cars with a colourful garden

Then I put them into good use too. Here, the pair served as wedding cars

Nice to see them as a pair, cars and persons.

Knew that we had to say "Goodbye" some day - had this souvenir picture taken

yes! I used the MGB to send my grandson to school

A great moments to remember the better times when we were together

The wife did not want to miss out in the glamour.

In hindsight, I had prepared well for this particular moment. I can look back, and the "post-production" all the pictures were appropriate and ready for me to use as support for my "Down memory Lane" story. Thank You - for such blessed moments.

Oh! there are separate web pages for each car - My 1st MGB - My Second MGB - MGB GT - Sunbeam Alpine - Triumph Spitfire. Click on the names to reach them
